Who can apply
- AACR states there are no citizenship requirements, but you must already be enrolled in an accredited pathology fellowship or residency programme at an academic, medical or research institution inside the United States and be authorised to work there, so this is not reachable from outside the US system. By the start of the grant term on 1 December 2026 you must hold a medical degree (MD, DO, MD/PhD or equivalent) in a related field, have at least two years of protected research time, and have a mentor in the proposed research field at the sponsoring institution. You cannot be a candidate for a further doctoral degree, cannot be an employee or subcontractor of a US federal government entity or of for-profit private industry, and cannot concurrently hold another AACR grant. You must be an AACR member in good standing with dues paid for the current year by the submission deadline; AACR membership dues are a membership cost, not an application fee.
