Who can apply
- Chilean nationals only, and you must be resident in Chile when you apply, so this one is closed to international applicants. You need a licenciatura from a programme of at least eight semesters, or a professional title from one of at least ten semesters. This is an equality-of-opportunity award and its targeting is unusual enough to read twice: it is aimed at applicants who do not have enough English to compete on equal terms in ANID's and Fulbright's regular overseas scholarship competitions, and who are in socioeconomic vulnerability. You must meet at least two of three vulnerability criteria, being state-subsidised secondary schooling, an undergraduate needs-based loan or bursary, or parents whose education stopped at or below completed secondary. You must also show academic excellence, either an undergraduate final average of 5.0 or above out of 7.0, or a place in the top 30 per cent of your graduating cohort. Fulbright Commission sponsorship is a prerequisite for the ANID award, and that sponsorship lapses if ANID does not then select you.
