Who can apply

  • Open to applicants worldwide. You must hold, or expect to be awarded, a Master's degree in Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Physics, (Applied) Mathematics, Engineering or a related field, awarded at the latest before the PhD begins, and have a high level of spoken and written English. Applications go through the online portal only; the institute does not accept applications by email. Two referees must submit the institute's reference questionnaire from their institutional email address by the deadline, and it is the applicant's responsibility to make sure they do.

Stage dates

Applications close 15 September 2026 at 23:59 CEST, and two referees must send their completed reference questionnaires to the institute by the same date. Selection runs from September 2026 to January 2027 and includes a visit to the institute.15 September 2026
