Who can apply
- Open to foreign candidates. You must be enrolled in a stricto sensu postgraduate programme at a public or private institution in Sao Paulo state and must not already hold a master's degree; candidates transferred from a master's to a direct doctorate with an excellent postgraduate record are also accepted. FAPESP looks for research potential, an undergraduate degree recently completed within its normal duration, an excellent transcript and preferably a successful undergraduate research placement. A supervisor holding a doctorate at a Sao Paulo institution, with demonstrated leadership of internationally competitive projects, is required. A foreign candidate is responsible for obtaining entry and stay documentation from the nearest Brazilian consulate.
