Who can apply
- You must hold, or expect to receive before starting the thesis work, a Master's degree in a life science (for example biology, chemistry or biochemistry, biomedicine including medicine, physics or biophysics, bioengineering, biomaterials, biotechnology), mathematics or computer science, and the degree must end with a thesis. A Bachelor's degree is not enough except, in narrow cases, for the Faculty of Medicine. Previous research experience and proficiency in English are expected; TOEFL, IELTS and GRE results are recommended but not mandatory. Applications are accepted only through the online application system, with two academic reference letters submitted through it. There is no strict age limit. The working language is English and no German is required. The page does not state a nationality restriction.

Online application closes 15 October 2026 at 15:00 CEST (GMT+2). The application can only be submitted once at least two reference letters have been received through the online system, so referees must be added and contacted well before the deadline.15 October 2026
