Who can apply
- You hold a PhD by thesis, or an equivalent degree under European Union directives or a bilateral agreement, awarded at least three and at most six years before 1 October of the year the fellowship starts; the date printed on the PhD degree is the reference point. You must also have at least two years of postdoctoral research experience on 1 October of that year, proved by a declaration from the Flemish host institute if you have not held an FWO junior postdoctoral fellowship. You may always apply directly after a junior postdoctoral fellowship, in which case the senior fellowship must follow it immediately. You have to find a supervisor at a Flemish host institution, must not have held this fellowship before, and may apply at most twice; from this 2027 call a second application needs the first to have been in the top 50 per cent at preselection. The page states no nationality restriction.
