Who can apply
- Citizenship restricted. You must be a US citizen, a US national or a US permanent resident with a green card at the time of submission, so most international readers are not eligible even with a US host. The award is aimed at graduate students seeking independent support for a first postdoctoral position and at postdocs early in their careers, and you must not have held a post requiring a doctoral degree for more than 15 full-time months before the deadline. Your doctorate must be awarded before the fellowship starts, and your research plan must sit at the intersection of artificial intelligence and the biological sciences. You may submit one proposal a year and two in total, and the host institution may be in the United States or abroad.
Stage dates
Full proposal, submitted by you through Research.gov, not by your host institution. Two reference letters are submitted directly by their authors. Awards are made the following spring, and the appointment must start between 1 June of the year after the deadline and 1 September of the year after that.28 September 2027
Dates come from the funder's page for this round. When a round closes, the next round's dates replace these once the funder publishes them.
