Who can apply
- At award activation you must hold a post-baccalaureate PhD or equivalent, or a doctoral-level clinical degree (MD, DO, DVM, PharmD, DDS, DPh, or a PhD in nursing, public health or another clinical health science), must not still be pursuing a doctoral degree, and must have no more than five years of research training since that degree, excluding clinical training. The award is not intended for people of faculty rank and requires at least 80 per cent of full-time effort on research. Awards are limited to United States-based non-profit institutions. You do not need to have lived in the United States before applying, but at the time of proposal submission you must hold one of these designations: US citizen, permanent resident, pending permanent resident, E-3, F-1 student, G-4, H1-B, J-1 exchange visitor, O-1, TN, or DACA. F-1 and J-1 are accepted for pre- and postdoctoral fellowships, so international students already studying in the United States can apply.
