What is funded: A base scholarship of EUR 992 a month plus a health insurance allowance of up to EUR 100. Optional components depend on the scholar’s situation and include reimbursement of German tuition fees up to EUR 10,000 a year, the fees for German language courses, fixed fringe benefits of EUR 38 a month, and family and child… Deadline: 1 September 2026 (Fall 2026 round; the window opened on 15 July 2026). Students of all disciplines may apply. The foundation states that from 1 March 2027 it will only accept applications for first-cycle programmes, which makes the Fall 2026 and Spring 2027 rounds the last two under the current rule. The certificate of enrolment or confirmation of admission may be submitted later than the application itself, but no later than the interview stage.
Stage dates
The Fall 2026 application window opened on 15 July 2026. Registration for the online portal opens roughly six weeks before the closing date, and the foundation accepts applications through that portal only, never by post or email.15 July 2026
