Who can apply
- The applicant and principal investigator is the undergraduate, although applications are often written with the academic supervisor. You do NOT need to be an ASAB member, but your supervisor must be, and must hold a PhD or equivalent degree or equivalent research experience. The project must not contribute to the requirements of any undergraduate or postgraduate degree, including a thesis, and must not be part of a larger project or expedition. Anyone who has already held an ASAB Undergraduate Scholarship may not apply again, and ASAB does not accept applications that substantially overlap a previous one. Retrospective applications are not considered. ASAB does not usually fund applicants based in the Americas, though it will consider applicants based elsewhere who want to do research in the Americas. ASAB pays no overheads, bench, researcher or visitor fees, and cannot pay awards into countries covered by UK government sanctions. About half of applications are funded in each round.
