Supports pilot projects too early to attract UK Research Council funding, and small-scale projects unlikely to attract funding elsewhere. May pay for the applicant to travel to conduct collaborative research… Deadline: 1 October 2026. Who can apply
- This one is NOT open to students: applicants must hold a PhD, and must have been ASAB members for at least 12 months before the closing date of the round they apply in. There are no further restrictions on age or experience. One applicant per application; co-applicants and collaborators go in the description of proposed research. Grants will not support work that contributes to the requirements of an undergraduate or postgraduate degree, including a thesis. Previous ASAB Research Grant holders may not reapply within three years, and substantially overlapping applications are not accepted. ASAB does not usually fund applicants based in the Americas, though it will consider applicants based elsewhere who want to do research in the Americas. ASAB pays no overheads, bench, researcher or visitor fees, and cannot pay awards into countries covered by UK government sanctions. Successful applicants are expected to review applications in future rounds if asked. Society dues are a membership cost, not an application fee.
