The money covers direct research costs for the funded proposal and may be used toward the student’s annual stipend. Indirect costs and cost sharing are not allowed.   • A baccalaureate degree or equivalent, and current enrolment in a PhD or equivalent research doctoral programme (PhD, PharmD, PsyD, ScD, a combined MD/PhD, or another combined professional and research doctorate). Qualifying exams or the equivalent must be passed by the final proposal due date. Non-US citizens are eligible and applications are accepted from US and international institutions. Past Graduate Research Fellowship or Pre-doctoral Fellowship to Promote Diversity awardees may not reapply, and only one application per applicant per year is allowed across all NAF programmes.
