The money covers direct research costs for the funded proposal and may be used toward the student’s annual stipend. Indirect costs and cost sharing are not allowed. Qualifying exams or the equivalent must be passed by the final proposal due date. Non-US citizens are eligible and applications are accepted from US and international institutions. Past Graduate Research Fellowship or Pre-doctoral Fellowship to Promote Diversity awardees may not reapply, and only one application per applicant per year is allowed across all NAF programmes.
