Who can apply

• READ THE CITIZENSHIP RULE FIRST: the APS states that applicants from outside the United States, and US citizens affiliated with foreign institutions, MAY NOT APPLY. The competition is open only to US citizens, US permanent residents and foreign nationals formally affiliated with a US-based institution, who may then work anywhere in the world. Open to graduate students and to postdoctoral and junior scientists; applicants who already hold a doctorate must be five years or fewer beyond it. A graduate student must ask their supervisor or field trip leader to write one of the two letters of recommendation. Budgets are limited to travel and related expenses. Membership of the NASA Astrobiology Program is not required.
