You need a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in biomedical sciences within the European Higher Education System, at least 300 ECTS, or an equivalent university degree that lets you start a PhD thesis in Spain. Selected students get a four-year employment contract with a salary set under Spanish national regulations, not a stipend, which means full health and occupational insurance cover and inclusion in the Spanish social security system. Who can apply
- Open to candidates of any nationality; the call says so in terms. You need a bachelor's degree and a master's degree in biomedical sciences within the European Higher Education System, at least 300 ECTS, or an equivalent university degree that lets you start a PhD thesis in Spain. Candidates who expect that degree by September 2027 may apply. You need an excellent academic record, previous research experience and a high working knowledge of English. Candidates interviewed in a previous CRG PhD call are not eligible, nor are candidates doing their master's at the CRG, nor anyone who has worked at the CRG for more than three months before the deadline. You may select a maximum of two CRG laboratories. One caution about the source: the CRG hub page and the call page label the call's status inconsistently, and an older 2026 call page with a November 2025 deadline is still reachable. The date above is from the 2027 call page, whose interview and start dates are all forward-dated to 2027.
