Who can apply: A graduate student working towards an MD, PhD or equivalent degree, or a postdoctoral fellow no more than seven years past completion of their first doctoral degree. The applicant must be attached to the laboratory of a senior researcher who acts as their research sponsor, and must meet the minimum effort requirement… What is funded: Two years of salary support for a senior doctoral student or a postdoctoral researcher working on neurofibromatosis, awarded through the Foundation’s Discovery Fund. It is designed as a seeding mechanism: the Foundation’s stated purpose is to get the holder established well enough to win a larger grant from the NIH or… Deadline: Letter of intent closes 1 December 2026. The LOI window opens 2 November 2026, and the award itself starts 1 July 2027. Round: 2027 Discovery Fund cycle, with an award start date of 1 July 2027. The letter of intent is submitted in the 2026 calendar year.

Who can apply
- A graduate student working towards an MD, PhD or equivalent degree, or a postdoctoral fellow no more than seven years past completion of their first doctoral degree. The applicant must be attached to the laboratory of a senior researcher who acts as their research sponsor, and must meet the minimum effort requirement set out in the YIA Guidelines. Only one YIA application per laboratory per year is funded, and an individual cannot hold more than one postdoctoral YIA in their career. The Foundation states in as many words that there are no citizenship requirements.
