Who can apply
- Hard denominational requirement: membership of a Protestant church, with exceptions possible in justified cases as set out in the foundation's FAQ. Also required are a degree completed without undue delay, above-average study and examination results (a final grade of at least "gut", or "vollbefriedigend" in law), a degree qualifying the holder for doctoral study, and formal admission to a doctorate by the university. Holders of a foreign degree may apply provided they have been admitted to a doctorate at a university in Germany, so this is a route for an international candidate already placed in Germany rather than for one applying from abroad. Applications from candidates whose thesis is already in its final phase are not considered, and Dr. med. and Dr. med. dent. are excluded.
Stage dates
Application through the Villigst online portal by the first working day in December or in June, with all supporting documents and certificates submitted in time. Applications sent by email are not considered.See the official page
Dates come from the funder's page for this round. When a round closes, the next round's dates replace these once the funder publishes them.
