FWO prints a gross monthly salary of EUR 5,616.81 for a junior postdoctoral fellow at four years of seniority (index 2.1647 on 1 March 2026), plus a bench fee of EUR 4,000 to EUR 10,000 a year for running costs. Who can apply
- You hold a PhD by thesis, or a degree recognised as equivalent under European Union directives or a bilateral agreement. Your PhD must have been obtained no longer than three years before 1 October of the year the fellowship would start, or be obtained by 15 September of that year at the latest, in which case you must tell FWO your public defence date by 1 July at the latest. You have to find a supervisor at a Flemish host institution. You must not have held this fellowship before, even partially, and you may apply at most twice. From this 2027 call a second application for the same fellowship type is only possible if the first was in the top 50 per cent at preselection, and one supervisor may back at most five applications per call across junior and senior fellowships combined. The page states no nationality restriction.

Call closes at 5pm, the last application date. Submit through FWO's online application addressed to an FWO expert panel. The supervisor's letter of recommendation is a mandatory part of the application and counts as an evaluation criterion.16 November 2026
