Who can apply

• The standard minimum is a three-year Bachelor's plus a two-year Master's degree including a written Master's research thesis. Holders of a one-year Master's such as an MRes may apply but should expect an entrance exam or substantial extra coursework. In exceptional cases a four-year degree (BSc, BA or MSci) is accepted if it included a research thesis of at least six months and the applicant has at least a further year of research experience and a DKFZ principal investigator has already contacted the PhD Program Office in support. Applicants still studying should expect their degree no later than six months after the deadline. Proof of English is required except for applicants from German-speaking countries and native speakers from Australia, Canada, Ireland, the UK and the USA; accepted proofs are TOEFL at 95 or above, IELTS at 7.0 or above, or the Cambridge CAE.
