Who can apply
- Two practical requirements decide most applications. First, you must supply a valid US contact who can receive the equipment and get it to you: IDEA WILD will not ship internationally, including to Canada, because customs and taxes have proved unreliable, and it prefers not to ship to Alaska, Hawaii or Puerto Rico, or to PO boxes. Second, grants go to conservationists in the Global South, especially in under-resourced countries and biodiversity hotspots; the Foundation says supporting projects based in the First World is generally not in its mission, and that a non-national should have a country national apply or co-apply. Applications are open from all countries. Priority goes to a project cost below USD 1,500, a strong biodiversity conservation aspect, a start date about six months after application, and a stated plan to pass the equipment forward to other conservation work afterwards.
