The student receives a stipend of GBP 444.85 per week for up to eight weeks, with a minimum of six weeks; up to GBP 400 of the total may go to the supervisor for specific research consumables. Who can apply

  • The application is submitted by the project supervisor on behalf of a named undergraduate student, not by the student. The supervisor must be a Full or Full Concessionary Member of the Society with at least one year of membership and two consecutive subscription payments, and must be PhD qualified or hold a senior research or academic position in a higher education institution, research institute, industry, clinical or infection science setting. The student must be registered for an undergraduate degree in any area of the biosciences or of medical, dental or veterinary science; BSc students must have completed at least two years of the programme and must not have started their final year when the studentship is taken up, and MSci students must likewise not have started their final year. Applications are considered from International Members subject to the employment laws and practices of the countries involved. Membership dues are a membership cost, not an application fee.
