Who can apply

  • Final-year students of a four-year undergraduate degree, or of a postgraduate science, BTech or MTech degree, at a university, institution or college. Two conditions do the real filtering. First, your dissertation has to be a requirement of your own degree, and the Head of your Department has to say so in a forwarding letter on university letterhead, in RCB's template. Second, a department may recommend at most two students for the same round, so the internal competition happens before RCB ever sees you. Attendance for at least six months is mandatory. You apply online with a CV, that forwarding letter and a 750-word description of your research interests, and selection is on the strength of the CV and that write-up. RCB's advert states no nationality restriction either way, so we claim none. Two RCB pages carry this between them: the Current Opportunities table holds the deadline and the apply link, and the programme page at /training-programmes holds the fee and structure detail.

Stage dates

The one binding cut-off. The advert says interested candidates should apply online by October 30, 2026 and that applications are considered only through the online mode; the opportunities table prints the same date with a 23:59 cut-off and no timezone.30 October 2026

Training for this round starts in January 2027. RCB's academic calendar runs two rounds a year, applications in March for a July or August start and in September or October for a January start.See the official page

Dates come from the funder's page for this round. When a round closes, the next round's dates replace these once the funder publishes them.
