Applications are open worldwide and welcomed at any career stage, with students and early-career researchers particularly encouraged. The project must be standalone: work forming part of an undergraduate or postgraduate degree is excluded… What is funded: Up to GBP 3,000 for a standalone research project in entomology, on insect species anywhere in the world. Funds new and innovative insect research, established methods applied to understudied species, and new methods applied to well-studied species. Will not pay overheads, salary supplementation, tuition, course fees… Deadline: 31 October 2026. Applications are open worldwide and welcomed at any career stage, with students and early-career researchers particularly encouraged. The project must be standalone: work forming part of an undergraduate or postgraduate degree is excluded, though PhD or DPhil students whose salary or stipend alone is covered will be considered if they say so in the application. Projects linked to existing fellowships, projects that are a component of an already funded programme, conference attendance and expedition participation are all out; a standalone project that happens to take place during an expedition is in. Conference costs go to the separate Conference Participation Grants, which are closed until 2027. Membership and Fellowship fees are discounted for students, retired applicants and anyone based in a low- or middle-income country; society dues are a membership cost, not an application fee.
