Who can apply

  • You have to have passed your PhD viva by the application deadline of 27 October 2026, and your PhD must have been awarded on or after 10 February 2020, so this is a postdoctoral scheme and not one a BSc or MSc student can enter. You also have to live and work in Ireland, including Northern Ireland, which means a reader applying from outside Ireland is not eligible. You may apply once per round and hold at most two Charlemont Grants in five years. There is no application fee, and extensions to the eligibility window are granted for parental leave, long-term illness and caring responsibilities.
