Who can apply

Unlike the Society's Appleyard Fund, which is limited to Fellows and Associates and explicitly excludes registered students, this fund states no membership requirement and no career-stage bar, so a master's or doctoral student working on African plant taxonomy or ecology can apply. The proposal must have well-focused aims with specific outputs, a topic achievable within defined time limits, and a realistic budget; evidence of collaboration is favoured. The Society warns that its bankers cannot pay funds, directly or indirectly, to individuals in countries under UK sanctions or otherwise restricted by the bank.
