Who can apply

  • The regular 5+3 PhD programme requires a completed degree equivalent to a Danish master's degree (180 ECTS BSc plus 120 ECTS MSc) in the project's subject area. Applicants with a degree from abroad may alternatively hold a bachelor's degree equivalent to a Danish bachelor's degree and be academically qualified at master's level. The whole application must be in English. No citizenship restriction is stated and the university encourages all qualified candidates to apply regardless of personal background, but a non-EU appointee will need a Danish work and residence permit before starting. This post additionally requires a master's degree in neurobiology or neuroendocrinology with coursework in neuroimmune mechanisms and significant post-graduate technical experience, plus bench experience in human neural and/or beta cell biology, pluripotent stem cell maintenance and characterisation, iPSC neural and endocrine differentiation, small animal surgery, histology and confocal imaging. Expertise in pancreatic islet functional assays, single-cell RNA-Seq and epigenetic profiling is highly desirable. A master's degree earned abroad may be sent for assessment by the Danish Ministry of Higher Education and Science.
