Who can apply

  • The guidelines state no citizenship or nationality condition, but they do impose an institutional one: you must be enrolled in, or have recently graduated from, an Australian university. You must be in the second-last or final year of your undergraduate degree, which for a three-year bachelor's means the later stages of second year or third year, or a recent graduate of one. The degree must be science, biomedicine, health sciences, public health or similar. You need a strong academic record, described as a distinction average or higher, evidenced by a transcript submitted with the application. You must have a genuine intention to continue into honours, master's or PhD research at the Baker Institute, and the review committee explicitly scores whether you contacted a prospective lab head before applying, so that email is part of the application and not a courtesy. Applications go by email to [email protected] with a CV and academic transcript. The form asks for a CRICOS course code, which indicates international students at Australian universities are contemplated, but the Institute does not say so outright, so we do not claim it.
