Who can apply: Undergraduates only, and the bar that catches people is the last one: applicants who have already graduated, or who will graduate with a first bachelor’s degree before the programme starts, are NOT eligible, so this is closed to master’s students and to recent graduates. You must have completed your sophomore year… What is funded: A ten-week full-time residential summer research placement at one of the three Mayo Clinic campuses, in Rochester (Minnesota), Jacksonville (Florida) or Scottsdale (Arizona); you choose the campus you prefer. Who can apply

You must have completed your sophomore year before the programme starts, be currently enrolled at an accredited US college or university, hold a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, and be seriously considering a PhD or MD-PhD research career rather than full-time clinical practice (applicants leaning towards an MD are pointed to Mayo's separate CRISP programme instead). International students are eligible only through the US enrolment route: Mayo states that international students attending a US college or university as full-time students may apply, and accepted students are then asked for OPT or CPT documentation. If you are studying outside the United States you cannot apply.

The online Application for Admission opens. Mayo prints the window as 'Nov. 1, 2026 - Feb. 3, 2027'.1 November 2026
Close of the application window. The submission also needs a one to two page personal statement, unofficial transcripts from every college attended, and recommendations requested through the portal, so start well before this date.3 February 2027
