Who can apply
- The page states no citizenship condition and AHRI's careers page confirms that non-South Africans may apply. You need a PhD or MD completed within the past five years and an excellent academic record, with a research track record including first authorship on published papers or manuscripts under submission. AHRI asks for candidates who are self-directed and who have a record of mentoring more junior researchers. Two costs fall on an international applicant that are not AHRI fees but are real: your foreign qualification must be evaluated by the South African Qualifications Authority before you apply, and you arrange your own South African visa.
