Who can apply: You must have completed the requirements for a PhD or equivalent doctoral degree before beginning the fellowship. You must be a US citizen, a US lawful permanent resident, a foreign national eligible for a J-1 Exchange Visitor visa, or an applicant for LPR, asylee or refugee status with a valid EAD card and a pending… What is funded: Stipends start at USD 70,000 a year, plus USD 10,000 per appointment year for professional travel, about 85 per cent of a health insurance premium paid by NASA, and reimbursable relocation including shipment from a foreign country. Appointments run up to three years. Deadline: 1 November 2026. Round: November 2026 cycle.

- You must have completed the requirements for a PhD or equivalent doctoral degree before beginning the fellowship. You must be a US citizen, a US lawful permanent resident, a foreign national eligible for a J-1 Exchange Visitor visa, or an applicant for LPR, asylee or refugee status with a valid EAD card and a pending I-485 or I-589. Foreign nationals do not need the J-1 at application but must obtain it before starting. Each fellowship is tied to one advertised research opportunity, so you must relocate to and keep residency at that NASA Center or program institute. You must not have held an NPP appointment in the previous five years.
