Who can apply: PhD awarded no earlier than three years before the deadline, or in hand by the award start date. Both US citizens and foreign applicants may apply, but the fellowship must be held with a sponsor at a US nonprofit research university or institution, and the sponsor cannot be the applicant’s thesis adviser. What is funded: Up to USD 360,000 over three years: an annual stipend of USD 85,000 plus an annual allowance of up to USD 35,000 for health insurance, research supplies, small equipment, sequencing and travel. Paid to the host institution, not to the fellow. Deadline: 3 December 2026 Eastern time.
