The award is a salary of USD 69,073 plus USD 5,000 for research expenses and professional development, with health, vision and dental benefits, paid sick… Deadline: 1 November 2026. The portal opened on 1 September 2026, letters of recommendation are due 1 December 2026 and decisions are announced 31 March 2027. No timezone is printed. You must first secure the sponsorship of a tenured ladder-rank UC faculty member (associate or full professor) who is not your PhD dissertation advisor, and you may apply to only one University of California campus. The application needs a one-page thesis abstract, a 700-1000 word research proposal, a 300-700 word education and background statement, a CV, a writing sample of up to 35 pages, a thesis-advisor reference and a mentor letter of support. Citizenship restriction: the programme states that successful applicants must present documents demonstrating that they are legally authorized to work in the United States without restrictions or limitations, so a candidate who would need employer-sponsored work authorisation cannot take up the award. Fellows must establish residence at the host campus and work full time on research.
