You need a PhD in human genetics, bioinformatics or computational biology awarded within the last five years. Wits states across the whole postdoctoral programme that fellowships are for people who have not taken a long-term contract or permanent academic role and that a fellow cannot hold employment elsewhere. Experience with next-generation sequencing data analysis and genomic variant interpretation, and proficiency in R and/or Python on Linux and HPC, are listed as desirable. The University adds that preference may be given to appointable applicants from underrepresented designated groups under its employment equity plans.
